Couldn't stand it any longer and just ordered a 4 5/8" SBH SS 44 mag. I guess my 7 1/2" SBH will soon have a new partner. Anyone else have a 4 5/8 model? Was thinking about getting a Bowen rear sight for it anything else I might want to do to it? Besides shooting the heck out of it!.

Ive got the same gun. It's got a Wolf spring kit, knurled locking base pin, free spin pawl, bisley hammer, elk stag grips, and is currently at Gary Reeder having a gold bead front sight installed, checkering on the ejector rod button, bowen lanyard ring, deep dish crown, scalloped recoil shield and loading gate, and a topless lady engraved on the cylinder. cant wait to get er back!

Start small....maybe a trigger job, rear sight, and a Belt Mountain basepin. That's a great gun as is however. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. -Lee www.singleactons.com

Get a trigger job if needed and some better grips. Eagle Grips Gunfighter model are my stock favorite. Stags by stag-grips.com look good on stainless. Or go to some custom grips by Caryc or pvt schultz or some of the other guys. I tend to stay lower end on the custom work...and buy another gun or two.
Start low on your reloads and work your way up to your comfort zone. (I like 5.5 inch guns...original size VAQUEROS and BISLEY VAQUEROS in 357 and 44.) There are some interesting moulds if you cast. A full wadcutter in 44 or 45 makes some impressive holes in targets.

I have one I got from John Gallagher. He added a bisley gripframe, hammer, and trigger. Bowen sights and his own excellent action job and fitted a nice set of ebony grips. It is my favorite field gun right now. I plan to take it hunting every weekend. Working up loads for it have been a lot of fun as well. I love the 4 5/8 barrel, always have.

Congrats on a great choice!!! Probably one of the single best all around guns out there. I'm with Lee and blueroan...grips, trigger job, sights and BM basepin are all you'll probably ever need.........oh and a nice chunk of leather!!! Don't forget to show pics when it's all together!!!

Thanks for the replies. I can't wait to get it. I did a Bisley conversion on my other SBH so I have a SBH grip frame that I may try to fit to the new gun or I may do another Bisley conversion ;D.
