A neighbor showed up today and gave me an old Hawes 36 cal Navy pistol that he no longer wanted. I thanked him kindly then proceeded to take it apart to check it's condition. The only major problem was a broken hammer spring. I can't seem to locate a ready source for even parts that can be modified to work. Am I going to have to make a spring? I was hoping that someone on here could point me in the right direction. I've never owned a black powder gun of any kind, but hey it was a free handgun, and I can't stand to have one that don't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A COLT SAA SPRING WILL "PROBABLY" WORK.

Thanks for the reply Mr. Taffin. I've got zero experience with SAA, so I didn't know if the springs were at all similar. Should be easy to locate. Thanks again.

+1 on what taffin said, or you can try the Log Cabin Shop. I've gotten springs from them for cap&ball revolvers in the past. www.logcabinshop.com or (330)948-4307
