Made it to the range yesterday with the 338 and 280 GNRs... Turned out to be freak day... Seemed like every nut case in the county showed up and brought their friends.. Didn't feel bad at all about shooting the 15 inch fire breathers.. Got both into the center of the target pretty easy.. The 338, while not unpleasant, did have a little recoil. The 280 was nice. Based on the comments made by observers, both barrels produced a pretty good fireball. I can say that the concussion from each cartridge fired was accompanied by little heat...
The 338 fire forming went well... The 280 was a diffferent story. We are either loaded to hot or our batch of brass was not annealed properly.. Planning to drop the charge a bit and try again before we attempt to anneal.

Sure did Lee... You got a fix in your hip pocket? I have been told that my fire form load was to hot or the lot my brass came from was not properly annealed...

I'd back the load down first. If that doesn't work, try annealing. I've never needed to go that route though on improved shoulders....but then again I've never worked off of 405 brass. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. -Lee www.singleactions.com
