Well guys, I finally got to give the new FA a small test run this past weekend. Shot 20 rounds of Hornady 250grn factory loads and twenty five rounds of handloads comprised of a Cast Performance 335grn GC loaded over various charges of Winchester 296. Pretty sure the gun shot much better than I did but the target tells the story. These were the last shots of the day. Not sure if I will stick with the express sights or not. I prefer traditional notch and post type for accuracy work, but the express are plenty good for up close and personal. [/img] Justin

Good work there. My favorite wheelgun is a 6" Freedom Arms 83, 454. Balances just right and is a pleasure to shoot with reduced Casull.

This is my first FA and so far I am completely satisfied. While I have handled and shot them on a few occasions in the past, owning one is completely different!
Was kinda surprised to find that I had to adjust the rear sight all the way down to accommodate the heavy bullets. Need to get up to the farm and try it out at longer ranges and see what it does. Still not sure that I will keep the express sights.
Either way, I am now thinking that a model 97 in 45 Colt will have to join this one in the safe!

Congratulations on a fine gun!
Your bank account may not be able to handle this right now....BUT....You might want to take a look in the "other classifieds" if a 97 is on your wish list.
On the subject of FA express sights....I bought a used 7 1/2" field grade Mod 83 in .44 mag with express sights a month or so ago and was pleasantly surprised at how well they work for an old buzzard with bifocals...in good light.
