Say fellers, how is it that we missed this little GunBroker novelty?! www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=181441311A friend of mine here in KY made a couple of bids, and then smartly hit the "BUY IT NOW" option. What a bargain at $625. I am the receiving FFL so while I have it, I thought I'd share a few pics. It's a old model (3 screw) Blackhawk 45 fitted with a Bisley grip frame and a total of 3 cylinders, 45 Colt, 45 AutoRim and 45ACP. There is no pesky retro-fit transfer bar safety. There is a little set-screw which applies pressure against a dimple in the cylinder pin. The work is really nicely done by a smith named Lee Baker, as evidenced by the light engraving atop the barrel. Anyone familiar with who he was? I like it. Wish I had seen it first.

I beleive that is Lee Baker of Lee Red Ramp sights out of Califorina maybe. At least he was there 20 years ago.
He was a Heck of a 22 shooter. Martini single shots.
Just might be him.

That is WAY cool - if I'd seen it I would have pounced on it!

Interesting base pin lock. It's another effective way to skin a cat. Here's a couple of pics showing it clearer. It's a stainless allen screw. A blue slotted one might improve appearances.

There is another lee Baker at the Hunters Den, also a gun smith. The Red Ramp guy did a lot of single action work. He used to be in Lancaster Ca. I think he moved.

Sorry about that, my phone kept saying I didn't have a connection and to retry. And I was fool enough to do what a phone said. I'm learning. :-)

Looks like a nice snag for someone... Lots of versatility in those three cartridges... If it was mine one I'd put one of David clements' OM Bisley hammers on it...

I like the concept of a three cylinder .45 Colt/ACP/AR. But look close at the AR cylinder and I think you'll find it was the original Colt cylinder with the rim recess deepened. I can see where the AR cases ended, and way further down the original .45 Colt throats. Had I had this done I would have altered the ACP cylinder for the AR cartridge.
axehandle, Using one of Clements hammers would complete the package. I'll bet there was none available when this custom was done.

The original owner reportedly sent the gun back to Ruger with a request to have the gun fitted with three cylinders. They are all Ruger products....note the big letter S stamped on them.
Interestingly, the ACP is the only one that is fluted.
The "custom work" evidently consists only of the grip frame, cylinder pin lock, and perhaps the red ramp in the front sight.

You guys are AWFUL!! Here I was, all satisfied with my Ruger SS Bisley .45 Colt/.45 ACP Convertible and now you spring another cylinder on me (.45 Auto Rim).
Note to self:"I am not gonna look! I am not gonna look! Oh-h-h, I looked..."

Looks like the action screws are regulated to line up the slots. Nice touch.

Ruger didn't fit that thing with three cylinders. They don't chamber the .45AR and they wouldn't have done it with unfluted cylinders. They would've fitted it with fluted .45Colt and .45ACP cylinders but that's it. What we're looking at is two .44Mag SBH cylinders that have been rechambered.
Pretty cool sixgun but IMHO it looks goofy with the regular Blackhawk hammer and trigger.

I agree with Craig. No way Ruger had anything to do with that project.
It sure needs a Bisley hammer to complete the package!
