foxtrapper picked out the set to have....they are great gauges. He linked to the "minus" set which is what you want.

Vonfatman, nice gun, be sure to let us know how it shoots. There is nothing wrong with the .45 Colt. Enjoy! Frank

Frank, Yes sir, as soon as I get out back (muddy), I'll send some down-range, & I'll have a report. I'm guessing that this gun will always make me look as good as it can...it's a fine piece.

I own the twin brother to your Rodeo. They are great guns. I rubbed mine down with a lead-remover cloth and it seemed to polish it up some. It took some of the matte out of that matte finish! I also ordered some Micarta grips from Eagle meant for the Colt SAA and fit them to mine. The factory grips were too skinny for me. Here is a pic:

I just bought my first USFA's. They are definitely precise. I watched for a long time and finally found exactly what I wanted: a pair of Doug Turnbull Cowboy Classics in 4 3/4 44 Special. They are pre-owned in excellent condition. You should definitely save up your bucks and try something from Turnbull. The color case hardening is fabulous and the blueing is beautiful.

I just got my USFA newsletter. Until 7/31 you can get the high end (Case Dome Blue) SAA with an extra cylinder for $975. Caliber choices are .45 Colt/.45 ACP, .44 WCF/ .44 Special, .38 Special/9mm and .357 mag/9mm.
They also show a pic of the new Double Eagle with a hard rubber birdshead gripand Bisley Hammer. Mr. Bane has a video reviewing the Double Eagle in .44 Special.
Those boys in Hartford are on their game!

Vonfatman, I have heard the only difference between the Rodeo & the Premium gun is the finish. The fit, timeing, are all the same except the finish. I think it's a nice gun. Good trade. Frank

Thanks Frank. I was cleaning it tonight and was again impressed with the gun. It's a keeper.

EVERY hole in the cylinder is an EXACT .451...no variation. Perfect. [/quote] I have always liked the bead blast finish with the CCH hammer. Have you slugged the barrel at all? My guess is that your groove dia. might be larger than your chamber mouths.

Have you slugged the barrel at all? My guess is that your groove dia. might be larger than your chamber mouths. That's what I was wondering too. Was waiting to see if leading might be a problem. But if the bullets are soft enough or driven hard and fast enough they may obturate nicely at the "forcing" cone.

I'm shooting swagged (or softer cast) when I can. I've not shot the gun enough to determine a problem. I hope the barrel/cone stays clean.
