UPS brought enough Leupold dual dovetail rings and bases to get the 378, 338, and 280 scoped.. A few 378 and 338 bullets in the box too. Figuring 2X Leupolds for the 378 and 338.... There is a 4X Leupold on the shelf for the 280 GNR... Still waiting on brass...

Do you plan to hunt these boys?

I think I actually might.... While I don't not hunt I am sure that the regulars realize that I never write anything about hunting... Last time I was in the woods looking to shoot something I was still on active duty... I got out in '74.. Reeder schedules regular hunts in TN that are just a few hours from me... Just put out feelers looking for some hogs a little closer to home...

Sounds like you need to whack sump'in'. The 338-06 has flattened elk with 185 TSX's or 210 Partition's flying at 2950 and 2900 fps, respectively. I am thinking the 225 gr Partiton for next years grizzly hunt.

If you haven't bought 'em yet, I strongly encourage you to go with 4X Leupolds, rather than 2X. Those calibers deserve the extra magnification. I converted from 2X to 4X on my .375 JDJ in 1990 after my 1st trip to Zimbabwe convinced me of the value in it, and have a 2-6X 3200 on my .338 JDJ which shoots flat enough to be able to take advantage of 5-6X. Your 2 Reeders should run very slightly faster.

I've got all the scopes I plan on using sitting on the shelf... Local emporium makes me deals on all their take offs.. When I have a few extra bucks in my pocket I buy everything they come up with...

Sending the Encore frame out to Arizona for an action job and for a general clean up.. The 378 barrel was very hard to close. The 338 and 280 would not close. I am told that this is very common with the TC frames produced under S&W's watch. This old guy with his old TCs had never seen the problem before...
FWIW the case forming was slick.. 405->375->338->308->280... Bought the 310 die set instead of the case forming stuff. Made sense since I have a plan for a 310 GNR in my set... There will be a 256 before the year is out too! ;D

And.... Got lots of recommendations for more scope... Decided to go Leupold 4X on the 378 and 338. Bought a 2.5-8 Leupold for the 280 GNR.. Will be looking for another 2.5-8 for the 257 GNR.. Time will tell on the 310.. Could leave the 310 barrel slick and simply sight the beast using The Force!

You should do a cartridge line-up photo when you get them all formed.
