.
In some of the old Western movies, the hero would stick a second single-action Colt inside his waistband before he went out to meet the bad guys.
In those movies, there was not a holster but just the tightness of the pants and belt which held the Colt.
Would anyone recommend an IWB cross-draw holster to hold a Colt or Ruger Sheriff's Model revolver ?
Was thinking of something like a Milt Sparks "Summer Special".

Check with A.E. Nelson too. I have gotten several holsters from them. Very good pricing and very good quality.

Mernickle Holsters makes an inside the waistband holster for single actions. Everything is made to order, they are very accommodating and they just might make it in a cross-draw format for you. It comes with a metal belt clip or two leather belt loops. Give them a call; their products are first class without astronomical prices. 800-497-3166 www.mernickleholsters.com/ps/ps2_ref4.html J.D. Hammer, I have two of Bob Mernickles holsters PS6A & one of his belts. I will assure you the quality is top notch. I would not hesitate to order another. And yes IWB carry for a SAA is very practical, & comfortable. Frank

I like the design of the Simply Rugged Pancake holster. It can be worn inside or outside, strong side, cross draw and as a chest/shoulder holster. The trouble with inside the pants holsters is the need for different waist sized pants depending on whether you are carrying or not. I like pants snug and adding the girth of the gun using an inside the pants holster makes it too tight. So I wind up with 2 waist sizes for each style of pants. A vest or untucked shirt hides the outide holster just fine.

I just tried to order an IWB for my Sheriff's Model from Mernickle and the lady there got a little frustrated with me, as she claimed the holster J.D. Press linked to in his post didn't exist. We had a LOT of trouble with her confusing the letters B, P, and V on the phone when I tried to give her the model numnber. Finally I had to direct her to it in the catalog, then pointed out that it could be ordered with belt loops.
Well, that was apparently the wrong thing to do, as she left me on hold while she went to check "if we can build it that way". Excuse me? It states right in the catalog it can be built that way. Her attitude was not rude, but she obviously acted like I was wasting her time, so I had a quick solution to that. I hung up!
Dialed a different number and ordered the Blocker version. Great customer service, and we will see how it fits the .44 Special Sheriff's Model in a few weeks. I like the looks of the Blocker belt loop a bit better as well, so it is a win overall

Must be new, or a temp. I've delt with Mernickle twice -- once to change options several weeks after the initial order. The other time was to check on an order -- JT had just written an article on their work and they were swamped. That was several years ago -- both times they were knowledgeable, and friendly and eager to help.
YMMV

Ah well, everyone has a bad day, but in all honesty I DID/DO like the belt loops better on the Blocker version.
I was hoping to save a few bucks ordering from Mernickle as their prices were lower, but in this case spending the extra seemed a better way to go from a satisfaction view point. Better service, nicer looking holster. Of course the proof is in the pudding, we shall see how I like the holster when it arrives.

.
A few years ago...
My first order with Mernickle holsters came with the wrong holster.
Upon its arrival, called them and they read the order form to me over the phone. The order form was exactly correct, as was its copy in the shipping box. They asked me what the problem was then. The holster in the box was not the one on the order form. Took a few minutes to get everyone on the same page.
They then sent me the correct holster.
That holster is just fine.
