Just wondering if ya'll know what a wonderful thing a "Camp" is. It may be an upper mid-west thing. In the Alleghanies, I have the use of the "family' camp in Forest co. Pa.. and a friends and family type camp in Elk Co.. Do we here, have many members within an hr or two of elk Co., Pa ? May be interested in playing host and range officer, maybe a woods walk, and lots of grilled food, and some beer. No date yet in mind. steve b

We are upstream between Halton and Arroyo bridges. I drive past Belltown going to our place in Lake City. We have 200+ acres of our own and border gamelands on two sides. Enough for clays/pistols/rifles and a woodwalk. We'll see. Year and vacation time going fast ! Hoping to get up next mon/tues.. I have a strange worl schedule. steve b

I am familiar with the general area, that's a nice spot for a piece of land. Nice Country...Good air. Nothing like waking up to some fresh coffee and smelling that air coming off the river...

Fishing has been good. For the trout opener, all at camp came home with two full limits. All that is allowed by law. Burp. We are at the end of Middletown rd.. in Lake City. steve b

Today is my Monday, and no, didn't make it to camp. GROAN ! I can only handle so much civilization, then I gotta head 'fer the hills, and I didn't make it. Only hope to get thru my stretch of 7 work days, sane, and try again. Civilization is a thin venner we wear, thinner on some than others. On me, its darn near transparent. steve b

Steve me and the little lady may be up that way in the next few weeks if our schedules cooperate. I'll let you know when we finalize which weekend. Maybe we can burn some gunpowder and do some QC to be sure the beer is cold. The 22's are dying for a workout!

My next weekend is Aug 7-8th.. I work 3- 9 day weeks per month. Only one weekend per month. It confuses me too ! At meeting last night(2nd shift), we learned we'll be on this schedule thru end of yr, at least. Groan. While I like having week days off to hunt/fish, its tough to see others. steve b

Had good weather, good time at camp ! Does seem that rattlesnake populations are on the rise, over the last 5 yrs. Over the last 3 decades or so, just the odd copperhead, no rattlers seen by me and friends. The last 5 yrs, we've run into, oh, maybe a dozen total. This last trip, two Timber Rattlers. Both in same spot, within 15ft of camp pavilion. they came out from under extra buliding supplies to sun. With kids and dogs in camp, well, we invited them to dinner, wouldn't take no for an answer. Friend lost a Chessie last summer, right in camp yard, so they do now get shot on sight. One was @ 4ft., the the other was 54" and as thick as my upper arm. Skins and meat saved. How do I get a pic up on here ? steve b, not 'puter nerd

If you email it to me I can put it up. Photobucket is a free service that I use, just takes a little practice.

This is the aformentioned headless reptile. We're headed up there for the weekend, taking the new pup along the river. We'll be watching close for any of him and his copperheaded friends. Biggest one I have seen in that area for sure. I usually only see copperheads at best (or worse).
