Dang it.... I know better than to post stuff I like here... Now I have a 338 GNR headed this way... Going to be hard to say no to even more... Hate that the 257 GNR is curently one of the sale calibers... Bet the 30 cal based on the 405 will pop up soon..

That .378 is a serious big hammer that will shoot flat. The .338 is even flatter shooting and for those times when you don't need African Buffalo loads. Although I shot my Y-O Whitetail in 2008 with the .378 GNR Encore. I was sick and needed to get it done with little fuss. A 270 gr. Hornady at 2250 fps was more than enough. I chose the .338 GNR for my Y-O Ranch Blackbuck last year as I don't like chasing wounded game. Esp. when it costs $2500 per attempt. Ranges could have been long and I was ready up to 250 yds. ended up being just under 100. I'll take that. A treasured trophy, handgunned Blackbuck. Doug lucked into his Blackbuck with that .338 barrel you are getting (140 yd. neck shot). He wants one for the G2.

How does your barrel contour compare to these I am stockpiling? I plan to order Gary's reloading manual when I order some 338 GNR dies...

Attemped to cut a deal on a local Encore... Didn't work it out but not giving up. Did get the 338 GNR dies ordered along with a Reeder loading manual. They may show up in sync with the barrel...

What does the GNR return over the 338 JDJ? I assume it is a little faster.

Man, those numbers compare really well to the 338-06 from a rifle.

The fun will be shooting the 338 and 375 off the bench over the chrono screens.... Most likely will need to slip the screens a bit further down range because of the muzzle blast. The saver will be the ease of bore sighting the TCs. These things ought to be as fine as frog hair off sandbags... Maybe just boresight off sandbags and actually shoot off hand...

Groo here In comparing the GNR with the JDJ remember the JDJ wad designed for the Contender Not the Encore and operates at much lower pressures.. If you want an equal match , Go to the SSK Dreadnought series based on the 30-06 case .

Way over my head.... All I know is I prefer a rim on my Contender and Encore cartridges.... FWIW the 338 GNR will run in a G2 Contender...
So far as TC barrels go I have been a fool for TC for over 35 years... Bought my first the year after I got out of the Air Force... Kind of focus on 10 inch bull barrels but I have a few 12s, 14s and 15s. Curently sitting on at least 35 different cailbers... For those who do custom TC barrels and have a taste for wildcats, take a look at Reeders stuff... I have TC custom shop, Bullberry, and Virgin Valley custom barrels. The 378 GNR was my first Reeder barrel. I was impressed. Waterboy gave me a 338 GNR. When the 280 popped up on the sale list it was something I couldn't resist. I still need a 310 GNR and that 257 is still tempting...

If you are going to chrono now, what were the other numbers you gave a couple of days ago? Or I missed something, nothing new.............
