Too modern and wrong buffalo I suspect.

Two of mine. Top, Shiloh #1 Sporter in 40-70-2.5. Bottom, Shiloh Montana Roughrider in 45-90-2.4. Both have taken game and the bottom has yaken a BUNCH. View Attachment View AttachmentTell me about the brass for the 40-70? I bought that rifle in the mid-1990's when we had a reasonably 'normal' life, before O'homo's 'new normal'. BACO had 40-70 brass in stock that was re-drawn from 30-40 Krag brass. I bought 100 cases and still have 50 that are yet to be loaded and fired. A friend of mine bought a Ballard in 40-70 about 5 years ago and bought some new manufactured brass, by whom I don't remember other than it is drawn, not that machined crap. Anyway, he sent me some to try and the first thing I learned was the re-drawn brass had a greater capacity....which makes sense.

Here’s my C. Sharps 50-90, 32” heavy barrel. It has a 1-26” twist and I shoot a 600 grain paper patched bullet using 90 to 100 grains of black powder.

Well to probably antagonize the folks at Shiloh Sharps, here’s a couple pics of the Stainless 1874, they never made. I’m a handgun hunter, only, except in Canada, where you must handicap yourself with a long gun. As I won’t own a modern bolt gun, I do enjoy playing with old buffeler’ guns and lever guns of any type. As for as single shots go, I like 1874’s , and 1885’s the best.

I recently found a range with 1200 yards available which I’ll likely end up joining to see how it will do. Here’s one of my best groups at 200.

Do you make all your own PP bullets? One day I’d like to try that. I have a couple heavy molds for my 50-90. I need to get a good picture of that rifle. Shiloh did a great job on that one for me.

Here are some 45 and 50 bullets that Brooks made some molds for. The 45s are on the left, 50s on the right. 500 Gr Flatpoint and a 550 CM, 685 CM and 585 Flatpoint. The HP is a 45 Flatpoint that he did in a HP that weighs in at 450 gr from 30:1
