ParalaxBill posted his new roller and I’d love to see more pics of Buffalo rifles. Any types and make. Lots of history in these rifles. Iconic weapons that helped shape the country in the 1800s. Post them up!

This is my Cimarron 1885 in 38-55 30" octagon barrel and 6x Malcolm. I've since changed out the mounts on the rifle to be the micro adjustable ones which was a MAJOR upgrade. I regret to say I haven't shot it nearly as much as I have been dying to do. Some day once I get settled, hopefully before next deer season, I'd like to take a whitetailed deerfalo with it here in PA.

Two of mine. Top, Shiloh #1 Sporter in 40-70-2.5. Bottom, Shiloh Montana Roughrider in 45-90-2.4. Both have taken game and the bottom has yaken a BUNCH.

Bought a clone a few months back in .45 Colt. Haven’t spent much time with it but I see some work that needs to be done to it. Off season project. It’s fun though…

History re-imagined to what I can realistically harvest. I got lucky with the wood I feel like! It's quite a eye catcher when it comes to the overall gun and that seemingly giant octagon barrel. All my Cimarron's all have very pretty wood on them right from the factory, my Chiappa and Uberti seen below, not so much but still nice enough.

Ffg. It also has a nice meplat and dropped deer in their tracks. I never used it much for hunting. For the 45-90 I have an NEI mold that throws a 480 gr. bullet with a 35 cal. meplat and is powered y 80 grs. of Ffg. It reminds me a great deal of an elongated KTSWC. After shooting one deer facing me head on right through the brisket and the bullet exiting the right ham I haven't been concerned about shooting anything head on. It's also penetrated elk, brisket to ham and headed off into the tall and uncut. They pile up just like deer and, hogs just crumple where they stand. I can't speak highly enough about the bullet. Both bullets are blazing along at about 1200 fps. and ARE accurate out to 600 yards.

A couple of buffalo rifles I am getting back up and running. Though not the kind of buffalo you meant. EM Reilly 8 bore double, and a .577 BPE by Rodda

Here you go. I'm glad to see that there is some interest in these types of rifles.

I have an affinity for doubles and for over 20 years had a Reilly in 500 BPE. It had Henry rifling and was very accurate with NFB loads, cast or jacketed. The ONLY way I could make it shoot BP was to paper patch bullets and I hate patching bullets so, I sold to a former employee. I still have 4 but none that could be considered for buffalo, of any variety.

Can’t shoot too far at a deer or the sound will get there first. 🤣
