I bought me a new Colt Python this past week. I got a six-inch barrel in blue. The quality of it is impeccable. I'm amazed at how tight the clearances are. The only measurement that a tad on the large side is the cylinder throats at .359. Now I've read and heard a lot about the rear sight. I see no problems with the rear sight and it is not lose one bit. The base on mine doesn't wiggle and the windages blade stays anchors with its little set screw once you've adjusted it. The action, at least on mine, is really nice. It's very smooth and the double action is very light. Now I can see how Hickok 45 was shooting the Python he reviewed double action as it very easy to do so. The accuracy so far is very good. I've been shooting cast from it, but going to load up some jacketed. I'm very happy with my purchase.

How’s the end shake ? I’ve looked at probably a dozen in the last 18 months and every single one except a 5” one had terrible endshake .

I have looked at countless Colt Pythons over the last year and I have never found one that had any appreciable endshake.
To answer the OP I have to agree that the tolerances on these and the fit and finish is consistently outstanding. I have yet to purchase a Python myself but was very tempted by an 8 inch model recently that had coyote hunting and long distance steel written all over it. Even more tempting is the short barreled three inch model. And even more tempting tempting is the two and a half inch model. Too many wonderful choices...
I have been really drooling hard over the new Kodiak. Probably wind up with that one for Christmas, if Santa deems I've been a good boy.

If you want the SA and DA lighter and crisper than the originals, I highly recommend Heffron Precision: www.heffronprecision.comHe worked over my 4.25" stainless Python. His action jobs are impeccable. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

nickb, no end shake. In fact, I was going to joke that if you marked the primers with a marker pen the cylinder won't close. What I'm getting I was shooting and cocked it for the next round and it wouldn't go. I'm thought the cast bullet came of the case a little and protruded from the cylinder. That wasn't it. I pulled the cartridge out and examined it and the primer was ever so slightly high. I said my Lord this revolver has very tight tolerances.
The one thing I can fault about the Python is that they have a short cylinder. No problem with jacketed bullets, but some SWC cast bullets have to be deep seated.
I'm not going to touch the action, just going to shoot is a lot and see how much it smooths up.

X2 on an action job from Hefron Precision. A tuned new Python (gen 2, post 2020) has a better trigger than the classic, especially in double action.

The new Pythons have really heavy SA pulls...like over 5 lbs. My guess is a lot of Python buyers are sending them to Heffron. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

My bet is he is at least 2 year's behind.

I just got off the phone with Heffron Precision and they are backed up until 2027! Had a good long conversation (which is a good sign IMHO) and learned a lot. Hopefully they might have hammer/trigger kits coming out in the future. Guess I'll put in my deposit and hope I'm still able to shoot in 2 years! Getting old sucks (I'm 67!)

If anyone is interested in an Anaconda or Python that's Heffron tuned and doesn't want the 3-year wait I may know a solution.
