As Jack continues to send pictures, it's obvious my FA83 500 JRH is nearing completion.
At 60, I've slowed down on Custom Revolver Builds and increased my time at the benches. Both Reloading and Shooting.
I've sworn to only one project at a time and focusing on Non-Ruger Builds. Therefore, the FA83 500 JRH.
I'm thinking the next should be a Custom BFR. Unlike most, I focus on modernizing the oldies.
It comes with it's own challenges. Mostly the hysterical stressing over weak cases and old guns in like chamberings still being used.
Like recent polling numbers, we've been thru this before with the 45 Colt while most learned nothing.
The 32-20, 38-40 and 44-40 can be loaded to impressive ballistics.
So, I've ordered a BFR 357 Magnum for Jack to work his magic on.
After experience with the 6-Shot BFR 454 Casull, I'm fully aware of just how strong these guns are.
I'm thinking the 38-40 is an obvious first choice with a 7.5-8" barrel for maximum velocity.
Input and suggestions welcomed and appreciated...

HUEY: DON'T YOU ALREADY RELOAD FOR THE 38-40? Yes!!! I have two Custom Blackhawks that Clements built me. Also, a Custom TC Contender Carbine. My only factory gun is a Uberti Bad Boy 10mm/38-40 Revolver...

Well, you know my love for the .38 WCF so I am watching this with great interest. The BFR should take some seriously stout loads. Every time I see a revolver or rifle in .357 or similar I wonder if it can be made into a .38 WCF. The hyphenated cartridges are addictive. I believe my next project will be to find a .357 New Frontier and have it made into a .38-40 with a 5” octagonal barrel

I'm hoping the .400 Legend yields us some better, heavier bullets. Time will tell.

Swaging 41 Magnum Bullets down to .400" is fairly easy. But, proper bullets without the extra work would be nice.
So far my experience has been exceptional with the 38-40. 41 Magnum Ballistics are easy with less pressure and blast. The large capacity of the case funneled thru the much smaller neck really shows it's teeth as pressure rises.
This will be an excellent test platform where the case will be the weakest link.
