This is area not well addressed in the handgun hunting world- QD repeatable optic mounts that allow using irons
Spuhr built a Blackhawk with a Recknagel pivot mount. This is the most perfect solution but $$$
You could modify claw mounts for pistol use (I have a pre fit Heym set I'm considering for this) but parts like that are rare, and new claw mounts are $$$$
You can use a BoBro KOFN system, maybe mounted on the barrel. Pretty affordable but I don't think it's been done yet.
Alaska Arms rings on a Ruger Hunter model is the most economical solution, but you're limited to the Hunter and the rig gets kind of heavy with steel rings, scope, and a long ribbed barrel.
The FA titanium mount is see through for use with irons, but they're rare, expensive, and FA specific
If you're just looking to use a dot I'd try the KOFN system. If scope, Alaska Arms.
If all you want is to switch from a dot to a scope, then it's easy to put a picatinny rail on the pistol and get QD mounts.
For low light and longer ranges, a scope makes a huge difference and is worth the drawbacks.
Easiest solution is to carry two pistols, one with irons and the other optics.
