Is the front sight on the 10.5 heavy barrel Super Black the same height as on a Single Six? I have sent mine to Mag Na Port to have the barrel shortened to 6" and I really like the Hi Viz sights on my Single Seven and was wondering if those could be used on the shortened Super. There screwed on instead of soldered.

Not sure if the radius of the barrel is the same. If it is, I can’t see why it wouldn’t work.

I just didn't know if the height was similar, I'm just going to shoot 240gr bullets out of it not the heavy stuff. I was told by someone a long time ago they were the same sight but didn't know if that was true or not.

Paleroadster makes an interchangeable blade front sight base and offers fiber optic blades for it very reasonably priced.
2dogs (Fermin Garza) makes excellent front sights to order. I'm not sure if he offers fiber optic or not, but his brass bead front sight offers a screwed in bead over the less robust pressed in beads offered by the competition. The brass beads are easy to see in dimmer lights and look really nice too.

I don't have a 10.5" Ruger. My observation in developing some front sights are the standard Blackhawk barrel is typically about .730" diameter at center of sight base. Ruger lists the same aluminum front sight for all S6 and S7 and the S6s and my S7 barrels are all about .620" diameter at center of sight base. To achieve stock height and give attractive proportions on a S6 base I made the base shorter, enough shorter that I need to shorten the dovetail tang of DX style blades to fit.
My experience is far more limited than say RW or Fermin, I can say standard Blackhawks have much taller front sights.
I prefer to measure sight height by measuring from the bottom of the barrel to the top of the blade, then subtract the barrel diameter. If you measure a sight blade and base off the barrel changing the width of the base, [mine are generally narrower], it will make the same working height seem shorter as there is a smaller segment of barrel radius in the base. If that's not clear I could post a picture demonstrating it.

The 10.5 heavy barrel one has the silhouette hook type sight where my other 10.5 slim barrel has a regular ramp. And your right I believe the heavy barrel version has a much shorter sight than the standard 7.5 Super Blackhawk or regular Blackhawk. I was thinking it would save me money because he would rather just drill and tap the barrel than solder a new base on. I really like the HiViz sights, there not that pretty but they really work for me.

I went the opposite direction. I put the front sight from a 10.5 Super Blackhawk on my 7.5 Single Seven with great success.

Was it the silhouette hook type?

Do some measuring as somebody said. One thing that happens is as you shorten a barrel, you need a taller front sight all else being equal. You will gain some height with the barrel getting thicker but it might not be enough. Look at rear sight now. Is it bottomed or close to bottom? If it is, you might need more height. I lean toward the adjustable type so you know you can get zero. One thing Ruger has been good at is putting front sights on that are too short. Look at all the 45’s with a 357 sight on them. Or a 4-5/8 44 with that same little 357 sight. Just worked on one of those

Wished I would've thought to measure it before I shipped it off!
