Picked this up today. Surprisingly, it's in excellent condition and shoots to point of aim...at 10 yards.

Probably laugh Ronnie, but that's ok.
Was offered this fine example of a pathetic gun for $60. Was just too good to pass up.
If for just an example of Revolver History, it's worth helping a friend out.
It shoots to POI at 10 yards and groups 2" or under. Extraction is sticky, but that's usually an easy fix.
Besides, isn't a Cheap 22 always a "Must Have?"

I have one of their 38's. And about a dozen other "Saturday Night Specials". No idea how I ended up accumulating them

I was always told the RG on the grip stood for Real Gun,,,,,, In case you could not tell. OK if truth be known I too have had a few. They is what they is and that can include functional. The only one I totally stayaway from is the RG model 10 or 20. That one is lucky to cycle more than a day before breaking.

Certainly not something I plan on pursuing. But, I agree, quite functional crowding disposable.

I've had a few RGs. When I was a teenager I bought an RG10 for 5 bucks. It was supposedly .22 Short only, but being young and dumb I discovered that it would accept unmodified .22 Longs and even .22 LR if I filed down the bullet nose a bit. And, it was accurate enough to shoot snapping turtles and other small critters with. Fast forward a few years, in the mid '80s a friend bought an RG14 (improved safety and .22LR chambered) and proceeded to carry it everywhere in a paper bag, along with a box of ammo. He shot it quite often, plinking and shooting snapping turtles. He liked it so much that he bought a second one to have a spare. Later, he found a used one at a gun show and got it dirt cheap because it was missing the cylinder pin. He sold it to me for what he had in it, and rather than spend money fixing it I made my own pin for it. All of those shot accurately enough for a tacklebox gun or whatever. All these years later, I now have another RG14 because another friend had one that is unintentionally DAO because the sear notch is broken or worn so it won't stay at full cock. He gave it to me because he was worried that his son might have a mishap with it. I could fix it, but choose not to because I'm ok with it being DAO.

Seems a grotesquely lovely little thing to me. MUCH prettier than the Henry.
Maybe a bit sadistic, but it's fun to out-shoot someone who refuses to let you forget that his gun cost ten times what yours did. I'd save it for just such special occasions.
Is that really TAPE holding the barrel rib on at the muzzle, or a trick of light in the photo?

No Jeff, that's just an illusion of some sort. The gun is in remarkably good condition.
It's just as it left the factory.
