378 GNR barrel and die set sitting at the post office.... Contacted Veral about a .375 GC bullet mold... Planning to peek at the data Gary provides before I actually put a mold on order...

I got to the game late. What did you have it built on? Barrel length and such.
And what brass is this round built on?
What velocity are you expecting with what weight bullet.
Enquiring minds want to know......:-)

15 inch Encore... Based on 405 Winchester necked to .375... Gary says 300s at 2100 FPS out of a 15 inch barrel.....

Axehandle; Thanks for the info. Did a lot woth contenders in the 80s. They were so damn versatile.
Not the strength but the 45-70 loaded up was a riot. Pachmyer Gripper and go to town.
The 375 with pointy bullets would be a hoot!
Have fun...........

Gary's data is 250 and 260 grain jacketed bullets.... Guess that is what I'll tell LTB I want in a GC mold... Need to ask Gary about the throat...

Thanks for the pointer. Looks like a way to save some bucks.... I prefer hatching out my new bullets one on one with Veral....

I like that Axe....should be a thumper. As for the GNR vs. the JDJ, the former is 150 - 200 fps faster out of similar barrel lengths. -Lee www.singleactions.com

That is a dandy. I've had a JDJ too and as good as it is the .378 can go a bit more faster. Plus it looks more swanky. I prefer the small surface area of the .405 case head that should result in less back thrust. Sounds good anyway.
I have that 15" braked tapered Encore tube. Great all rounder. The 235 gr. speer will add some speed and flatten trajectory. Recoil is not an issue for me. In fact that brand new FA2008 is at the Pistol Parlor this very moment getting reamed out to .378 GNR and the barrel shortened 3" to have a 2" brake added to it's tapered snout. It will be a 12" + 2" = 14" total w/brake. The design mandates a smaller rimmed ctg., top locking bolt ya know. The .375 Win. was not really a pussycat in that FA so I probably will limit the CPE loaded 260 gr. Nosler's at a chrono verified 2300 fps in that chassis. For my sake anyway. Baker says "let it run, the gun will handle it".
As a close second I have a .338 GNR which is the .378 necked a bit smaller. Lighter bullet, higher velocity, and even less recoil. Using BLC-2 and a 200 gr. Hornady I get 2,600 fps. No BS. If only I could have that FA2008 in .338 GNR...
I do have my friend's Encore .338 GNR barrel that is an exact clone to your .378 GNR that's for sale. He wants $250 for it, Leupold DDT base is included. If you know anyone... A 12" .445 Supermag un-braked Encore HB tube too. Both stainless.
