I sent a Ruger Flattop .357 to John Powers a few years ago to have him convert it to a 10mm/.38 WCF convertible. He called the other day and said it is all done but the grips. He sent it to Chig’s for some Presentation Desert Ironwood he had set aside for me as soon as I sent the gun to Powers. Once he sends the frame back to John it will be on the way to me! Chad is pretty quick on the turnaround so it won’t be long. As for the gun, it has a 5” round barrel, case colored frame and RW hammer, brass RW Potato Judge Junior grip frame and a few other touches. Should be another Perfect Packing Pistol

A friend of mine has a 5-1/2" 38-40 by Bowen. That old cartridge is pretty impressive.

I plant to ring out the .38-40 more than the 10mm but since I have so much 10mm ammo and always wanted a convertible I figured why not. I had almost forgotten this one.

That sounds great, can't wait for pics. I'm keep hoping Ruger will make a run of midframes in .38-40/10mm.

Sounds like you have a very good one coming soon!
I have one of the Ruger Blackhawks in 38-40/.10mm.
I don't see Ruger ever making one on the mid-frame. Too many people like to hot-rod the .10mm. They try to make a .41 magnum out of it.

Sounds like a great build, very similar to my Harton mid frame flat top in 38-40 that out of a large pile of single actions is easily in my top 5 favorites.

I may have mentioned on here that I like the old hyphenated cartridges. I'm pretty subtle about it, maybe I didn't post that...
Look forward to seeing this one.

I picked up a spare 401 cylinder ar Neumrich for my Powermag. I was hoping to have it rechambered to 38-40, but thr throats are way large at .406"ish , so the Smith said it would be wasted effort I size NOE .411 cast down to .406" and they shoot pretty good in my converted 41 mag brass.
