If a number of knives equates to a level of foolishness, I'll stay out of this. I'm trying to come to terms with it. For many years I'd buy a relatively "expensive" knife, keep it a few years, then sell it when I bought another. But the search for "this will be the one" continues. But I'm coming to terms with having too many. For a while I found new reasons/excuses. "This one is for muzzle loading, this one is for turkey hunting, with one is for woods bummin'" etc etc. But I've even gone past that. If I have all these hunting rifles (or handguns) and keep buying them, so many so that even brining 3-4 with me every year, it can be 5, 10, 15 years before they ever go hunting again... why should knives be a problem? (being cheaper and taking up less space) Just have a rotation there as well. I'm referring to fixed blades knives, I've already embraced it for folding knives. ("this one works better with these pants")

My G'Pa got me into blades at an early age. I've been a bad influence on nieces, nephews and the next gen of the great nieces and nephews. My older Sis and wife have more than a few non-kitchen knives now too. A nephew recently told me of White River Knives, and one of his to his niece. The damage is done, sigh, LOL ! MidwayUSA gets some of the blame too. Also Field n Stream in Erie. They had a Whiter River Small Game, so got to handle and drool on. But by then I knew which handle and alloy I wanted and held off, also more interested(at the moment) with their Hunter knife, big brother to the Small Game. The proved unavailable in configuration I wanted. So backorder placed with MidwayUSA. So I've been checking MidwayUSA daily to see if backorder status lifted and then make the mistake of scrolling around..and they know my wants by know.. and the Small Game in alloy and handle wanted pops up available ! Click ! Was placed in my hands by UPS folks yesterday. Apparently, there is a level of sharp beyond what I knew. Fit and finish top notch. I LIKE IT. Now await the Hunter version.

Harvey Draper was my neighbor in the early 70’s. The folder (circa ~1978) was built for my dad,,, that I inherited in 1982,,, the same year Harvey died in an experimental plane crash. The “Paragon” fixed blade, was most likely from the early 1970’s. The brass end cap considered a “upgrade”.

These 2 have been my “users” for 30 or so years as in the field knives. The blades are quite a bit smaller than new due to years of sharpening.

This is a nice set I had made by Charles May. Technically there's a 4th knife that's a duplicate of the larger one. These are S30v steel. Really like these as well. Beautiful set of knives! My eye is constantly drawn to the lower knife, Love that knife!!!
