Anyone have hands-on/shooting experience with one of these? Saw one on the wall at a local toy store the other day but never quite got my hands-on it as the proprietor kept showing me revolvers and alas I ran out of visit time and had to leave.
Looks like a well put together carbine. I really like my 1895 Trapper in 45-70... thought this would make a nice complement to that rifle and a host of Ruger 44 SBHs I have.
Thanks for any insight!

I do not have that particular one, but do own an older Marlin 44, and it is a great gun that gets more use than my 1895.

Mine is an older one, JM stamp plus side safety. One problem with mine is it has a huge throat and freebore section. I have to use way oversized bullets or jacketed to get any decent accuracy (2 MOA). Fun as all get out, handy as a pair of pliers. 2MOA is good enough for me to hunt out to 150 yards or so. Taken deer, turkeys, gators and a host of pests.

I just sold my Ruger made one (blued/walnut) to get one with a threaded barrel. Very well made rifle.

No experience with the 1894 but if it is anything like my 336 SBL .30-30 it is a winner. Excellent fit, finish and function

While I haven't shot any of the new Marlins in .44 mag,, all the ones I've handled had excellent workmanship, fit & finish.

I caught a lot of disapproving comments selling older JM marked Marlins and replacing them with Henrys just to get away from the micro-groove stuff. Yup, liked the Marlins better but the Henrys shot the cast better.

I had a Marlin 1894 44 mag a few decades ago. I was loading RCBS 215 swc cast with 2400. Shot very tight groups. I ended up trading it in on a 338 win when I went to Alaska. The 1894 was a little picky about cartridge length.

'Twas shopping at a different toy store yesterday and they also had the .44 mag Ruger/Marlin SBL on their rack. Same overall excellent fit and finish and smoothness so I'd postulate Marlin has the QC down on these. Yeah, I know... super small sampling size but ALL the new Marlins I have had my hands on over the last year are excellent examples of well made firearms.
Now to just "pull that trigger"...
