Still sitting in a hotel during deer season. The post-hurricane repairs have to be made so everyone can get back to their lives, but it's rough on the technicians who are away from their own family and lives.
Some of the people from Georgia, Tennessee and NC where I have been mainly lost everything, including family members. I got by with loosing the front porch, a workshop, and a 1965 Impala SS that was in said shop.
When I start feeling depressed by that, I just remember a man at one of the power plants I was trying to get back on line. He was rewiring a power bank, but would wipe tears from his eyes regularly. I found out that he had lost his daughter and granddaughter 4 days earlier. They still hadn't found the daughter's body, but found the baby still in the car seat where they had washed away from the road.

bigbore5,, trust me when I say I understand. Living in Lake Lure,, below Chimney Rock & Bat Cave,, where things have been destroyed,, all while my place being spared,,is amazing. I've been in a lot of the places locally where total destruction has happened,, along with the loss of lives,,! The way our destruction is,, very different than what many have experienced in other natural disasters. Even folks who've lived through hurricanes & tornadoes, have made comments on how much worse it is here. Being able to get in the woods, relax & hunt a bit,, well, it'll be therapy for many.

Good grief! This hits hard and I don’t EVEN know anyone down that way. Hard to believe but I do believe what you folks say about it. Sitting here thinking about winter coming and all that. Guess I don’t have much to complain about.

A lot of people don't understand that hurricanes usually have tornados in that swirling mass around the eye. Couple that with the flooding and you have a dangerous situation compounded. Many times arial photos will show the paths of those tornados.

There's so many stories not being told about that flooding. So many people have lost family, friends, pets, livestock, etc. Literally to the point of losing everything. And that man at work definitely tells a story that he has no choice and has to man up and go to work. It's sickening to think that the victims of that hurricane aren't more of a priority to the administration. This is not a political thing. This is just a factual look at how we can send pallets of cash overseas and have no money and no attention on the people in apalachia.
