I knew better than to stop by the LGS. Who can pass up a $299.00 used 1911 that shows virtually no wear (I mean NADA) and the spare magazine in the case is still in it's original plastic baggie covered in oil? All of the Enablers on this forum have been talking up the Tisas guns, so I figured this was my opportunity to squander some of my retirement money. I also found some Hornady 200 gr. LSW bullets in the bargain bin (500 for $19.99), so last night I cracked open a pound of 231 and loaded up a bunch of 45 ACP rounds. The gun really liked the 200 gr. Hornady bullets. (8 shots from the included magazine, offhand @ 10 yds) Next up was the Ultramax 230 gr lead round nose. (8rounds, 10 yds offhand) And last, an impressive group from the Hornady 230 gr. JHPs. 7 rounds for this group @ 10 yds. I also shot some Federal Hydra-shocks but that group was nothing to brag about. Funny thing was; neither the hydra-shocks nor the Hornady JHPs would feed from the Wilson Combat magazine that I had with me. They would just jam into the feed ramp when I dropped the slide release. I decided to try the Mec-Gar mags that came with the gun and what do you know, they fed just fine, go figure. I will need to run quite a few more mags of hollowpoints through it before I trust it for carry.

I have 8 or 9 Tisas 1911s. I have had exactly ONE malfunction with all of them combined. Could be just luck though. I want to buy more of them.
Good thing is you already have an idea of what ammo to carry in it for SD.
