I am sure glad I read this before I got going with my testing. I did shoot 18 rounds in the BFR to adjust the sight and could not raise the group to center so quit for the day. Now I will do the other powder I have loaded and remove the Lil gun from my testing. Thanks

Lil Gun is the tops for me in an AR in 300 Blackout with 125 grain bullets. In a revolver I have never experienced the damage from it but I dont want to take the chance. Just dont want to invite the Devil to dinner. My suppressors on my carbines stay pretty clean using Lil Gun, so do the gas tubes. That is where I keep it. I do use a magnum primer with it in that application though so I dont know if that helps, just what I have.

I damaged the throat and barrel face in an early Redhawk 45 Colt using Lil' Gun. It got sandblasted pretty good. Fortunately I stopped before the damage was irreparable and recutting the forcing cone and squaring the barrel face with my Brownells tools fixed it right up.

I did test the 2400, 4227, and AA9. First thing I noticed was I cannot shoot as good as I thought I would. I was younger I could hold lime to lemon size groups at 30 yards with most every handgun I owned. Now I get orange to grapefruit size. I know it is age. Ain't young anymore and squeezing of a lot of rounds in a row sure can make you tremble and jerk a little. Only thing I could do was slow down and enjoy what I could do. Knowing my limits I still could see some difference between powders and the guns I tested. In all the #9 was the group leader. 4227 was last and the dirtiest. 2400 was a close #2 and seemed to have a bit more recoil. The new BFR was a great surprise for me. It's a heavy big monster, but has a perfect trigger and great sights. For me a hunting gun. It was the most accurate, but I think the size, trigger and sights made it that way. The new Python was the last at groups but it has the heavier trigger of them all. And me being a old feable weak shaking man behind the gun makes it that way. I learned most that you have to set your goals to match your limits. I know I can still shoot very well for my age but I can't do as good as when I was younger.

I like your article on the BFR. I'm a fan.
