Who remembers the original 6x47? For those who might not, the original 6X47 was a 222 Magnum case opened up to 6mm. I had one built on a Remington XP 100 in 1987. Preparing for the long range event at the Masters that year I spun up a gunsmith friend to build it for me. Memory is foggy but do remember we selected a faster than the expected twist to stabilize heavier 6mm bullets for the 200 meter steel targets. Bottom line is the gun was NOT ready in time and I took a borrowed 7mm BR XP100 to the match instead. Never fired that 6X47. Don't really remember the trading it off details. Bottom line is I may be getting it back! More details to follow!

I have a Hart rifle in 6x47 AI
6x47 dies are available, the AI version not so much (and there were a couple different versions)
Finding quality 222 cases is the real challenge
Otherwise, it's a nice round for an XP
If I was building a gun in that class today the 6mm-204 is the way to go. Simplify life with readily available brass and drop a larger bushing in some 204 type S dies.

How's about a pic of your XP?
I toyed with the 6 and 7mm TCU cartridges for a while in my TC pistols but wound up with a 7BR.

I bought the 7 mm TCU barrel for My contender a few years back and sent it right to Gary Reeder. He converted it to his 7 mm GNR. What an improved cartridge! This thing hammers deer at 200 yd with no problem. Just got done bringing a new 30 GNR barrel home. Both based off the 3030 Winchester case. Sorry for hijacking.

I've owned a lot of the Reeder cartridge TC barrels. All nicely done. Still own 6, 257, 6.5 and 7mm TCU barrels for my TCs. Another bright spot in my varmint handgun set is a 222 built on a Sako action. Picked up the gun that Ken Tapp won the long range event with at the masters in'88. It was a 7mm TCU on a Sako action that used an AR magazine. Had the same gunsmith that built the 6x47 completely rebuild it as the 222.

I've shot a 6X45 for several years now, found out that IMR8208 would make it come alive. I've seriously pondered a 6X47 or the 201/6MM for my next iteration but I shoot less and less lately. The 6X45 is knocking on the 6BR doorstep with a 30" barrel and 8208 powder pushing a 95gr Sierra, 2850fps. Fairly competitive on the 600yd line.
