Just got a 1911 in 10MM. I'm looking for a good powder for use with 180's and 200's. Plan is loads at or near full power that produce good accuracy. Any suggestions from experience?

z1r.... don’t know about “a GOOD powder for the 100mm.” My early Colt 1911 10mm likes Accurate #7. That particular Colt jumped out of the box super accurate and an exemplar of reliability. Accurate #7 delivers fine accuracy with 150, 155, 170, and 180 jacketed. As others suggest, 1he 10mm Auto thrives on medium burn rate powders. Too fast spikes before cruising speed is reached, and too slow causes the slide to hammer the frame.
Whatever buffer type you use, check on it. Some hold up better than others.
The 10mm Auto is a cream cartridge. Power with falter trajectory than the .45 ACP. David Bradshaw

So far, my Les Baer LS 10mm likes Longshot best. IIRC, I’m pushing a 180 XTP at 1,250. According to the deer I shot, more faster would not be more better.

Thanks for the feedback. Locally, both Bluedot and #9 are unavailable. Longshot and #7 are around though. Of the two, it seems that longshot is more available. I think I'll try the longshot. Just have to find a SS arched mainspring housing. I realize, I don't care for the way the flat housings fit my hand.

Most of my shooting has been 10mm, specifically the heavier weight bullets. Great accuracy at distance and very economical for the performance. Longshot and AA9 are both very good and years ago AA9 was my go to, at those prices. However, as prices increased I started looking elsewhere. Vihtavuori 3N38 has the lowest SD of the powders I've used, excellent velocity, is more economical than AA9 and is the cleanest burning out of anything.

I like Longshot & AA#9 with 190 gr WFN cast. Other powders will work but those 2 work best for me. I never use Bluedot for anything.

Back in the Day, Bluedot, Unique, and 2400 were my go to powders. Bluedot worked very well in the .38 Super. Now, I can't find any of those powders. I substituted Universal for Unique for many years.
