Baker used a 4 bore I believe. But one time he double charged it. He remarked something like" it spun me around". Kahones......
So in a way yes, he fired a 2 bore.

This is ironic... I handled 2 of them just this month, a muzzle loader & a breech loaded cartridge rifle. The maker was at the NMLRA shoot in Friendship & he simply handed one to me. I'm thinking, don't drop it don't drop it, it 's worth more than my house. I raised it to my shoulder, with considerable effort I might add and only able to hold a decent sight picture for just a few seconds. He gave me a lot of info that I unfortunately didn't retain. I was just too blown away by the experience, the wide lands & grooves of the rifling, the near silver dollar size case head, & that half pound lead ball. Their was an article about these two rifles in a last years issue of Muzzle Blasts, and I think I read another in Precision Shooting a couple years ago but danged if I can find em.
A mans rifle? If thats the case, I'm just a boy.

Seems I was mistaken about the magazine acticles as the cartrige rifle was not finished untill this year. The name that goes with talent like this should not be left out due to my poor memory or attention span. The builder was Colin Stolzer of Stolzer & Son's Gunsmithing in Kansas. Shy of rifling the barrel he seems to do it all, including engraving & color case. Complete history of the build can be seen in the big bore-doublerifle forums at Jesseshunting dot com. An amazing project imo.
