Impressive!
I was gonna say everybody knows you can't shoot 300 yards.
Details? What was the load? How big was the speck (target)?

Texas 5 Mighty fine shootin' When I was a bit younger and so were my eyes, usta shoot quite a clip with my Dad'd K38. Truly amazing what the 158 SWC bullet will do at extreme range. Maybe someone remembers the eastern shooting club that shot turkeys at 300yds or so. As I remember it started quite a rukus for the head of the NRA at the time. If you can remember the incident share it here. Any way keep showing us how it can be done. Thanks Salmonriver

What you're talking about is an amalgamation of different events. As for the 600 yard shot, here ya go: www.handloads.com/articles/default.asp?id=34 I tried going through "Six guns by Keith" to find the story, but couldn't find it, as I've apparently lost my bookmark.

I was shooting at the local range at 100 yards with a Clements 45 Colt and a S&W 500. I have electronic hearing protection so I can hear other speak when I'm not firing. There were a couple fellers drove up and were lauging and joking about me wasting ammo.
Ya just cant ever hit what you dont practice for. Thanks for the video TX5. I think I'll have to find a range with more distance to give'r a try.

I think this is a case of stories getting bigger with age, as Elmer's recollection of that day was entirely different from the story I was told as a youngster. I think I'll trust Elmer's version as he was the one that was actually there.

It is one of the greatest pleasures I know is when a rifleman thinks you are wasting ammo and you prove the doubters wrong! The funny thing is that if you ask most of these bozos to get the rifle of their sand bags and shoot it from a field positions they are no better than a good handgun shooter is!...
