Single Shot Rifle Mecca

Rey wrote something the other day questioning whether there was any love of rifles on this forum. Well...my wife and I dropped by Big Timber MT today specifically to go to Shiloh Sharps. We've been by several times and it was always bad timing. C Sharps is literally a few hundred yards down the road. Both are great places to visit. I would say the Shiloh Sharps are of a different caliber (no pun intended). They seemed to have a better fit and finish. They also have a 2.5 year wait. C Sharps has a 12 month wait and has more options it seems. I put in a placeholder order for one at Shiloh. I think my first will be a 45-70 1874. I wanted a smaller cartridge like the 38-55 for #2 but after talking with them I need to do a little more thinking on that one. Purely because I want a lighter more svelte rifle and they don't offer a lot of options for barrel profile there for a smaller caliber equates to a heavier rifle compared to a 45 caliber or 50 caliber. The pictures below are from C Sharps. Their showroom was bigger. They had more peripheral stuff like books, reloading supplies, etc. Plus they had more historical items. They have more options for variety of rifles but again Shiloh seemed to be a higher fit and finish. They are definitely both worth a visit and being a few hundred yards apart makes it a no brainer.

As someone who has owned both I have to say the Shiloh is my favorite. Admittedly I have owned only a single C Sharps and it had been one of the owner’s personal guns and 7 Shilohs I might be a little biased

I've driven through Big Timber three times now and have yet to stop there. I have had several Shilohs through here. Currently own a C. Sharps. Will add a keeper Shiloh at some point. I agree with you on the fit and finish of the average Shiloh being better than the average C. Sharps, but I've seen some dandy, higher end C. Sharps that would rival the best Shiloh I've seen. Just my two cents from guns I've seen in person. I'd be happy with either, if I could have only one.

I’m with Ronnie. You just can’t beat a Shiloh. I think they are the best made rifles in the US. The craftsmanship is incredible.

Wow! Those are some beautiful guns. I wish I could visit there. I have a Shiloh Quigley, awesome craftsmanship.

I was in C Sharps today to have a scope put on an 1885 replace. Excellent people and wonderful work they do.
