What are taxidermists in your area getting for a whitetail shoulder mount?

$700-$900 for a deer shoulder mount. Things went crazy during the pandemic, used to be $400-$600, local guy claims that the forms have gone crazy in price.
A retired family member did a few deer, elk and a bear rug for me. He wanted something to do to stay busy during retirement, problem was he knew too many successful hunters and it became more than a full-time job and we burned him out and he quit doing it. Now are subject to the crazy prices and nearly 2 year wait to get your mount.

I had mine mounted, white tail, this past June and my taxidermist hit me for $850. Was it worth it, you bet, it was the biggest deer I’ve ever seen let alone shot.
But, take into consideration, my last one done in 1992 cost $250.

GENTLEMEN: DON'T WORRY, EVENTUALLY YOU WILL REACH A POINT IN YOUR LIFE WHERE YOU WILL QUIT MOUNTING 'em AND JUST DO EURO's (DIY AND/OR PROFESSIONAL).

When I retired from doing taxidermy (2007), I was charging $300 for a shoulder mount - times have changed. I now pay more than that for a squirrel!

Was asking as my nephews 13 year old son ,arrowed his first deer! A nice 6 point. I haven’t had a deer mounted in 20 years so when my nephew told me $750.00 I was taken aback! Seems that’s the going price nowadays….

I have few in a couple of houses and a few in the garage. Prices vary widely but they have really climbed in the last few years. Those whitetails!! The blackbucks are striking!!

The last one that I had mounted ran me $175 in 2004. Guy apologized for the price going up $25. Chester County, SC. He actually did very good work when most around were up to $350 or so.
I just save the antlers now. My grandson finds them interesting.
