Just checking if any of the collective knows anything about them. I see one in a pawn shop that is not as cheap as the average derringer and it is made out of steel. But the interweb yields little information as to how long ago they were made, what they might be worth or even if they stay in one piece when shooting etc. One of those things I don't really need but, well, you know.

Saw one last week at the LGS, the salesguy said it was a POS. That surprised me as Uberti typically makes a quality product. He got specific but I was distracted by the Springfield Ronin I was eyeballing.

Uberti derringers are kind of hard to find nowadays. When I was heavy into SASS competitions, they were much coveted for use in the pocket pistol side matches. The only one that I ever owned was better quality than other imported derringers and definitely LARGER. Larger than the original Remington double derringers, their clones, and the more recent stainless steel ones made in Texas.
The Ubertis were probably imported in the 1960's. You may be able to learn more about them on the SASSwire forum.

I visited the LGS yesterday and handled that Uberti Derringer. The lockup seemed good, it made the strangest noises when it was cocked. The grips just spun on the grip frame. The size was much more agreeable than the Bond Arms variety, and seemed better put together than the old Davis Derringers. If I was still into CAS, I'd probably pick one up but clearly, it had issues.
