I probably have asked this before I’m still wanting to know if anyone has ever has a FA pistol treated with DLC ( Diamond Like Coating)? I love the “ Locks up like a bank vault” precision AND that its 100% American made. However, it seems a little too sterile. I have had a 1911 that was polished and then DLC treated. More durable than blueing and slick as can be. Thanks

Since it is a “coating” what is the thickness of he application? FA tolerances are pretty tight

1-2 microns .00004 to .00008 So………. less than .0001 or as we used to say ,” less than a tenth” Sounds appropriate.

I have some watches with a black finish that would look real good on an FA or SRH.

www.bowenclassicarms.com/workshop.htmlRedhawk 3rd gun from top of page had it done so a stainless Colt barrel could be utilized on a blue gun. Hamilton says no more full guns for him due to issues with vendor, but still doing small parts via new source. An FA would finish out the same as any other and look great, if you can find someone willing to work with you on it. It is a lot of work to prep to start with, and if it doesn't come out right the first time, removing the finish and starting over is no fun.

A fellow over on lever guns.com had a 4.75" Model 83 in 454, 45C & 45ACP done up in DLC. It was either a Field Grade or had it bead blasted and coated. With black Micarta grips, is was black for sure.

I've said before I bought my 97 with the intention of having it done. But at first I wasn't sure I was keeping it. And after that it had grown on me. Now it's such a pain in the butt to send guns, especially pistols and especially where I live, I wouldn't do it.
But what about the serial number?
