I was going to get a Redhawk converted to 454C, but then realized that a normal Redhawk can get so close, why bother. Since I was looking for a GP gun and one for back up/defensive use. It made no sense to use “rocks and dynamite” (to borrow David’s term) loads for a gun that will do its job with 300-350gr. bullets and possibly need to be fired with one hand. So just as my 5” SRH 500L lives on 475-485gr. loads at 900-1000fps, my new JRH 5.5” 45LC will likely live on the aforementioned 300-350gr. bullets at the sa,e speeds.
Jack should be starting on the project by end of month, so it won’t be long now.

I have been wanting to get my first Ruger Redhawk. I really want one in 45 Colt or the Convertible 45 Colt / 45 acp perhaps. Did Ruger ever make a 45 Redhawk in a blued frame? I prefer the blued guns over the stainless. Would love to see photos of your Redhawks in either color. Depending on budget and timeframe Al Segrist can rebore a blue .44 barrel to .45 and get a rechamber job and you have your blue .45 Redhawk. Any one of the currently active smiths can do this. For reference, I just got word that an 8” Anaconda barrel I am having re-bored to .45 is back. It only took about 6 months. X2 on this. Get a blue .44 and send it to Bowen. LOT of options to have a cool BLUE .45 Redhawk that way, and with perfect .45 Colt chambers to boot. |

I can easily see where if you too, the rib off the top and followed the original taper it would look like that. Plus you use the rib to fashion the front sight island.
