Nice write up. As a Southerner, I get a kick out of reading these articles about hunting out West.
I have hunted over your way before, but it's been years since. The tactics are so different than those we use down here. There's fields and pastures where the ranges can be long. This is the area where the "Bean Field" rifles originally came from after all. But outside of a field you will never see a deer 50yds in our woods, whether mountain, coastal swamp, or the flat piedmont.
