It's rare to see a hurricane track an easterly path. It'll be interesting to watch this one.
It'll be tracking along wind currents without really being caught up in anything solid.
Every few hours the forecast speed changes. If it slows down, both intensity and landfall location can change.
So many of those storms that originate in the south turn into really bad storms.

I walked into the Murdoch's store in Bozeman yesterday to pick up a backpack blower and the manager was waiting for guy that was coming in to buy a ton of generators to take to North Carolina. And a fly fishing acquaintance of mine from North Carolina went back to some of the areas where he and I used to fish and as of yesterday he saw no government vehicles of any kind in the county he was visiting. No FEMA trucks, no reserves military trucks, nothing.

The areas where FEMA comes in have been getting complaints about their heavy-handed policies. I'm still seeing videos on youtube where NC authorities are blocking people coming in to assist, even those who have been cleared by the main command center(s) over there. What the heck?

This kind of disaster should be all hands on deck and all kinds of help welcomed. I remember people getting in their own boats and picking up people, dogs, etc who couldn't get away from their houses. Funny they have a problem with it now.

The federal government is trying to take it all over so no one else looks good. Typical controlling government. They care nothing about the regular fine NC folks.

I just read that some of the locals in North Carolina pummeled a FEMA rep that was blocking aid. And now some of the North Carolina sheriffs are stating they are prepared to start making arrests of FEMA representatives who block aid.

FEMA acted pretty high handed when they finally showed up after Katrina, too. We ignored them and continued rescue anyway. Later they took credit like beurocrats always do. Useless for the rescue, but they did help with the FEMA trailers. Ended up buying my camper from them.
