Hey sirs … what’s the best way to end up with a 500 jrh? Preferably a Bfr. Thanks.

I’ve been looking there but no luck so far. Does this forum have a classified section ? Thanks.

I should add I’m looking for a 5.5 inch barrel.

No classifieds here. No firearms sales at all. You can post a link to another site on the link section but that’s it.

I'm not seeing anything online that is 5.5", I see some 7.5" ones most are stating less than 5 in stock, so they're probably drop shippers using the same supplier.

If you can find a 7.5" for a good price and the gripframe/grips you want, it may be worth it to have it shipped to Jack Huntington. He could shorten the barrel, put a Freedom Arms style front sight base on and do a nice action job...
Sometimes you can find a barely used one for a substantial saving and go that way. I've done that with FAs guns and have come out ahead in wait time and money...

A bfr will more than likely not need a trigger or action job, unlike a standard FA. The factory will shorten a barrel on a bfr and redrill and tap the front sight screw for less than anyone else and has a fast turn around.
Since the front sight is mounted by a screw, I also believe there's no need for interchangeable blade sights. 2dogs (Fermin Garza) offers excellent custom fronts designed for the bfr. I recommend his long range front. I love it in all brass, but he also offers it with just a brass bead.
Jack's grip mod works for some. I prefer the factory Bisley-ish Banana for recoil control. The best option is the Ronnie Wells Hager BB5. It's a more traditional looking Bisley style, yet maintains all of the recoil control built into the factory version.

IS IT AN EASY BOLT ON OR WHAT? WHERE DO YOU GET GRIPS FOR IT? I MIGHT USE MY BANANA GRIP 8" 500 JRH BFR MORE IF IT LOOKED BETTER.

It was an idea that i had been toying with but not really worked the bugs out yet and Wayne Filled in the blanks and we designed up something together that would become a hybrid between the ruger bisley and the MR Version. Wayne was the key element in it so we named it the Hager Big Bore 5. Here is a copy of the standard version. Same Gun. I have one with a Bisley trigger guard as well. R

RONNIE: FOR A BFR IS THE BB5 AN EASY SWITCH OUT? DO YOU HAVE A RUGER BISLEY GRIP FRAME FOR A BFR?

Ronnie's frames are amazingly easy to fit. Full details are in the sticky thread on this forum.
As for grips, one of my best feeling and looking sets are made by Ronnie. He truly understands recoil and his grips only compliment the frame designs. His prices are extremely reasonable if you want him to fit a frame and make a set of grips. Or any other custom gun work you want.

I got my BFR 500 JRH off Gunbroker a few years back. Excellent revolver all the way around. Fit and finish, action, balance... I very much enjoy it. Mine has the Magnum Research Bisley grips and a 5.5" barrel. It is a hoot with Buffalo Bore ammo and I have a few handloads for it that are tame in comparison to the BB stuff but still pack a thump.
Get one and shoot it some before you go changing parts out as it's pretty durn good from the factory. Doesn't mean a little extra love won't spiff it up more though. I'd first work on dialing in some handloads for that beast... that's the really fun part.
Good luck and happy shopping!
