The 475 Linebaugh I won from this same auction. It's awaiting my state to approve me to take it home. I looked at it at my dealer, doesn't look to have ever nlbeen fired, also looks like Dustin did the grips.

That one of the best things I got to do last week at Dustin’s. I was able to go through John’s card file records of the guns he had built and we eventually found the banded 475 records and I was able to look up when mine was built and who for.

Have you ever bought a gun that ends up being much, much, better than anticipated? An auction house a couple hours down the road had two of Johns guns that they were going to auction off. The first was a 475 barrel banded Bisley that looked to be wearing a set of Dustin's grips. The other was a Super Blackhawk in 45 colt that John built to commemorate 20 years of building guns. Looked to be a 6 shot gun in the pictures and given the date is probably also wearing Dustin's grips. Beyond that they didn't have any details and not much could be gleaned from the pictures. I ended up passing on the 475 and winning the Super. Long story short, it is a 6 shot gun (haven't measured it yet to see if it's oversized). Full build on a 357 NM gun that John fit with a SBH gripframe and a free spin cylinder made to fit the frame. The grips look to be Dustin's, but I'll pull them and check when I get a minute. The barrel is marked with Johns old 45 colt logo, and most surprising is that the fitted case was made by Marvin Huey! To cap it off, I got it home and wiped off all the fingerprints and found the gun is in new condition. Great snag! I have owned a bunch of John's guns, but never have had one with the .45 shell case marking on the barrel. Anytime he did something special he had Marvin Huey do the case. You done REAL good on that one.

Oh that’s a nice one! I would never be able to leave it unfired. Nice that someone did that for you.

I was fortunate to be able to handle a 45 Colt Seville #10 the other day. It was made for Hank Williams Jr. and he offered it back to the Linebaugh family some time ago and it too has the round 45 Logo on the barrel.

I’ve read multiple sources about how Hank jr was a big fan of the .45 colt, and his load of 20gr 4227, but I’ve never been able to find much else on the topic. I sure wish I could find more on the subject.

I sure wish I could find more on the subject. From this thread singleactions.proboards.com/thread/29852/using-4227-45-colt-97As Mr. Taffin says, Heavy Crimp and Magnum primers. Hank Williams Jr. wrote in first Lyman Handgun Loading manual that came out in the early 90s that his favorite 45 Colt load was 20.0 grains of IMR4227 under a 255-260 grain Keith bullet. 1K for velocity and superbly accurate. Back in the 90s I was shooting a lot of 45 Colt and I found the advice of Mr Taffin to be true and the recommendations of Hank Jr. to also be on the money. I shot the Hank load in S&W, Colt Model P and Ruger Blackhawk. It worked in all of them.
