I seem to recall a guy who converted single sixes to 38 Special and said 357 magnum pressures were good to go. His heavy load pushed the 168 grain Keith SWC to 1200 fps. He said you could run those without limitation... as long as your hand holds out. People asked him to convert to 357 magnum and he said he can do it, but why? His feeling was the 38 HD would do everything the 357 mag would do in the SS platform.

Had a long talk with Ronnie last night, and I gotta say the stuff he's doing to the internals of these conversions is mind-blowing. I'll let him provide specifics if he so chooses, but RDW is as cutting edge as it gets on Rugers. Having done our own conversions since the late 80's, I've never ordered a custom from another builder. Sure, people in the past have pioneered many great ideas. But, seems most can only copy what others have done. Ronnie and I have discussed so many of our "outside the box" ideas. I'm glad to see he is promoting new ideas. Hopefully, this will usher in some free thinkers to pursue their ideas. Like you, I'm glad to see Ronnie rolling these out. We've talked more about the S5/6 38 Specials than any other builds. I still think it's the best conversion for the frame... |
