Old eyes need help. Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith that will install a fiber optic front sight on a blued Ruger Blackhawk? Not interested in a red dot sight as this is for a packing around gun when hiking. More interested in quick front sight acquisition than precision. would like to use it with Fermin's 2 dogs rear sight #10. Thanks in advance for the help.

Ronnie Wells, Gary Reeder, Fink's, Hyatt gunshop, many others.

You could also do it yourself with a 60* file and patience, provided you are using a standard .375 dovetail. Have done it many many times.

I put UV cured fluorescent paint (nail polish) on mine. That stuff does not come off.

Gary Reeder - he uses Freedom Arms Bases and sights. This way you can change out types and heights with no issues.

Thanks guys. I'll give the paint a try first to see if that helps. In addition, it looks like in order to ship the gun it would cost almost as much for shipping as it would for having the sight installed.

You can always look around for a local smith. Only thing is that you will need to refinish the blue on it. If it's just a packing around gun, I'd consider getting a stainless one. If needed you can sell the blue one to offset the cost.

Look at paleroadster posts about the interchangeable front sight he makes if you're going to have to solder a new one on anyway. I'm really partial to 2dogs TLA sight, but it's not a fiber optic.
