Huey, I've never seen a 44 that wouldn't shoot that load, a shooter might have to change the size of the bullet sometimes but 10.0 gr of Unique is just one of those loads that always shoots great. I get 1207 fps out of my 6.5" old model with this bullet & it's a game changer....that is, it changes them from standing to laying down very nicely. And yes that is one of 2dogs front sights, I couldn't shoot this gun as well without it, the Dawg knows how to build a front sight, but he's a terrible traveler!

I agree,, I load some of the 10 grns Unique in my cast 44's as well. Shoots better than I can. And I'm to the point that Fermin's sights are fast becoming my preferred type. My eyes just ain't what they used to be.

Good shooting, and that's a nice gun. Looks like you're ready for hunting. I like the curly maple stocks, I have a set just like yours that a late friend made. He extended the bottom about 5/16" with a filler below the grip frame. He new how to shape them, they feel great, about like a Super Blackhawk. I've run 8-10 grs of unique in my shorty Super Blackhawk with a 429421 and they shoot great. Should be a good combo in the thick stuff

Good zero check, Dick…if I remember correctly, the bottom of the orange paint on that front sight is about dead on at 300ish yards with that same load.

Kim, your memory is good & that was a few years ago that you were shooting those river rocks! And I don't believe you had ever shot that far before but it didn't take you long to get dialed in. I hope you have a great hunting season!!! Good shooters pick it up fast. James From Jersey was all over those long range rocks after about 3 cylinders full, he didn't want to leave. bushog, that is a public range, paid for by Idaho Fish & Game, member funds & Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. We have a 300 yd. covered rifle range, 100 yd. rim fire range, big bore handgun Silhouette range, both of them covered. And 8 pistol bays. There are 7 solid shooting tables on the rifle range & it's all free and we are insured by the NRA.

I absolutely love my 1961 OM 6.5" flattop. I'm going to leave it original, holster wear and all.
