Well I decided to try one of the Turkish 1911s and had my dealer order a Tisas Yukon 10mm. It is a Commander length bobtail with no MIM parts and forged slide and frame. The majority of the reviews have been good so we shall see. I have had bad luck with 2 Kimber 10mms and one RIA 10mm but the rest (and there have been a bunch) have been great.

I have a buddy in Cody who has one and has shot it all summer and has nothing but good to say about it. Frank says it isn't as accurate as his 6" Nighthawk but then was $750 and not $4000 so you have to be pragmatic. His does 3" groups at 25 yards, required minimal tuning, tuned the trigger, adjusted the extractor some and replaced a spring. Has been running Wilson mags exclusively in the gun but it eats everything he has fed it and has been his carry gun all summer.
I have yet to see one that I can put in my grubby hands, I am pretty sure one is going to come live in my safe eventually...

Handled one of the long slide Tisas 10s just this morning. Impressive gun for the money.

The Yukon has eluded me for a long time at the shops I frequent.

If I didn't already have a SIG Nightmare Carry in .357 SIG/10mm I would be looking to buy one. Have a Stingray and Carry in 9mm with extra barrels in .38 Super and they are a great value.
As to bad luck with the 10mms from Kimber and RIA, have a Kimber Long Slide and Camp Guard 10 and neither have never missed a beat. Same with a no longer available RIA Combat Commander size 10mm.
Only reason I sold the RIA is that it felt like shooting a brick because to the bull barrel...

I had a Camp Guard as my second Kimber and I was hoping it would be my EDC but alas I could not get it to feed with any mag I tried. It would shoot two and then jam every time. I could have sent it back in or to a smith but I was pissed and moved it down the road and yes I told the buyer about my issues with it. I still am tempted to give one another try but I think the next 10mm will be the Springfield Ronin with the Hex red dot they just put out grabagun.com/springfield-armory-1911-ronin-black-stainless-10mm-5-barrel-8-rounds-w-hex-dragonfly-red-dot.html

I have had several Springfields in 10mm and a .45 ACP with a Clark .460 Rowland conversion and they were all great guns. I spoke to a couple of 1911 smiths and they both suggested starting with a recent manufactured Springfield for a build.

Well the pistol hasn’t made it yet but I did receive my Warbird IWB/OWB convertible holster from Paul! It is brown leather with an Elephant trim patch.

I visited Frank in July and he/we hunted that Yukon….he recently told me he’s really impressed with it! I took my Kimber Eclipse Custom II, along with some Ruger SAs. It’s was great fun!

I found these sights from TRUGLO at Midway and they are on sale for $51.99 right now. I originally tested these out on my Glock 22 during an Action Pistol Match and they made a HUGE difference. They are the "U" notch with the enlarged white ring around the tritium insert. I have been slowly putting these on the rest of my Glock handguns because I have found them so easy to see with my old man eyes. The huge dot rests perfectly inside of the "U" notch and the white ring makes them very easy to pick up quickly. I recently bought a Sig 1911 and found the Novak cut sights on Midway's website, I'm waiting for them to arrive so I can try them on the Sig as well, they should be here Monday. Ronin is a great looking gun for the price.... Just got a call from my LGS, they had a used but new 5" Ronin that the owner accepted my offer on. Looking forward to trying it out as I've wanted a 10mm for quite some time. Pacecars, that's a good looking piece. Hope it shoots as good as it looks!
