I just booked 12 days in Mozambique with Mokore Safaris. Buffalo, sable, eland, hartebeest and bushbuck are on the menu with maybe a couple of the "tinies" and a warthog (they are huge there) thrown in. I'll be taking my tweaked M70 416 Rem using my handload with the 350 gr TSX for buffalo. The combo worked like a champ on my Zimbabwe buffalo and plains game some years ago. I am taking my Cliff LaBounty rebored FN Mauser 9.3x62 loaded with the 250 gr Accubond. I have not shot this rifle since my first trip to Africa in 2002 when I used the original 250 X. I am pretty excited.

I was impressed with the 250AB, I drove one from brisket to ham on an Addax from my 9.3x74r, at about 100 yards. Turned into a nice expanded bullet that broke ribs and shoulder as it traveled to the ham and crossed from left to right. Muzzle velocity was 2450fps, I’d love to run it into an elk or bear.

I killed a nice bull elk with that 250 Accubond in a 9.3x74r from my Blaser K95. He just stood there until his back leg began to “shimmy” and then he toppled over.
Shot him through the top of his heart…

Congrats and hope you have a fantastic trip!
I plan on building a 9.3x62 soon. In fact just purchased 300 pieces of brass. How do the Barnes compare with the Accubonds?

You should also take a light rifle for some bonus varmints. Great fun

That 6.5 JDJ will do a job on the smaller critters.

That 6.5 JDJ will do a job on the smaller critters. I meant like a 22mag. Not hard to pack an extra barrel.

On my last trip, Zimbabwe, I used my M70 416 Rem with 350 gr TSX's on buffalo to serval out to 250 yards (kudu) with bushbuck, kudu and waterbuck in between. Even on the little cat the damage, neck shot, allowed for a mount.
