Impressive work Mr. Parker. Being curious, I searched around for some comparable loads and ran across more of your loads from this rifle that you put together in '21 and posted on the African Hunting Forum. I believe that gun is the definitive Elk stomper. Woof!

Im getting near 2600fps with cfe223 in my ruger with 250gr bullets. Speer and Hornady doing about the same. Its 24" 1 in 12 twist. My barrel seems a bit slow compared to some data groups. For some reason formed Rem 30-06 brass is getting better spreads and deviations than Hornady 35 w brass? Accuracy out to 300yds is excellent. Ive come to favor this rifle over all my others.

With 4"more barrel I get 2700 FPS WITH THE 250 Hornady with CFE223 I'd say 2600 is good speed in your rifle

JES has a 5 groove which costs extra if you want the 5 groove.

I was aware alternate groove counts and twists were available - thanks. Mainly wondering how you happened to choose what you did and what the interchange with JES may have been like. I've heard quite a few positive forum posts on JES but everyone seems to generally go with standard.

JES told me that I didn't need a 10 twist, that 12 was more than adequate. I told that I understood that, but I felt that their was really no down side to more twist unless one is shooting thin jacketed varmint bullets and I believe that more twist aids in expansion.

Have you tried the Hammer HHT bullets? That 255gr HHT looks awesome I have not. CFE223 or MR2000 will be better powder choices for a bullet of that weight

Interesting/good that JES first offered their opinion and then gave you what you wanted.
