...preferably with the 34" barrel, either Taylor's or stock Pedersoli example.
Anyone have one? Opinions are very welcome.

Nice guns but to quote Frank Mayer “I am firmly in the Sharps’ camp”

The Rolling Block was the backbone of militaries of the world. Simple, strong and highly reliable.
I took one to Africa in 2018 just because I could.
The U.S. most definitely should have adopted the Rolling Block instead of the Trapdoor. But, politics is not exclusive to modern times...

I'm adding the rolling block to my small collection of 45-70 actions of the period which includes an original 1884 trapdoor.

Nice guns but to quote Frank Mayer “I am firmly in the Sharps’ camp” That would be me but, given my handle, would anyone expect less?....................... Howsomever...I do have a Gustav roller in 8 X 58RD and it is assuredly a fun rifle and certainly an effective cartridge. Decades ago I had one of the very early Pedersoli rollers and hated it. The barrel could have been used as a replacement axel for a deuce and a half. It is tied for 1st place as one of the most unwieldly rifle I have owned. Howsomever!!! I've handled several that are decades newer and they are twice the rifle that early one was. Were they my interest I'd darn sure own some.

I had a Swedish Rolling Block that was made into a .50-70 carbine. It was a hoot to shoot and got me hooked on the cartridge. I had been speaking to Dave Higginbotham about having him work his magic to turn it into a beautiful custom shortly before he tragically died. I do like the rolling block but not as much as the Sharps. Ballards are another story😀

But, shortly before his death, sold me #300 chambered in 25-35 Wichester to take varmint hunting. It is a wonderful rifle...
