I finally finished a basic order form for grips and set up a separate email account for the grip work. The email rbcustomgrips at gmail.com. If you are willing to give me feedback on the order form and any suggestions, shoot me an email and I will send you copy of the form to make suggestions on.

Kids are a wonderful life long sentence! While there will definitely be a business aspect to the grip making, I am very fortunate in that it is not something I have to do. I find I am one of those guys who did not transition into “retirement” easily after 30 years of self employment thus the woodworking shop. What the grip endeavor does is allow me to use some transferable skills and tool assets towards projects that are a little easier on my body than flipping slab table projects while being more hobby focused towards firearms.
One of the most enjoyable parts has been the chance to learn new skills and techniques from teachers like Alan, Rob and Dustin. Education has always been important to me and the grip making lets me go back to school which is just as enjoyable as teaching.

Looks good
I’m not sure what extras you’ll be offering but:
Filled vs unfilled grain Glossiness of the finish Blind grip screw Palm swell One piece (if applicable) Stabilized wood Discount for customer supplied wood? Surcharge for customer supplied wood 😂 Up charges for any given selection? Blue vs stainless hardware Decked grip frame, RW grip frame, or Freedom Arms? Do you have anyone local you could contract to deck grip frames for you? I know a lot of grip makers will just do the high spots by hand with a file too. With blued grip frames, it wouldn’t be difficult to have one piece appearing grips with magnets for retention. Grip locator pin and some bedding compound do 95% of the retention anyway. A finishing nail hole or thumb notch cutout on the heel allows for one panel to be removed giving access to removing the other.
Maybe some of that could be an addendum to the order form so folks know what “special requests” might entail.
But what’s there is correct and perfectly adequate, especially if you’re communicating with the customer. Rowen for example goes above and beyond with communication, as you know.

All valid points Todd. Those items are all part of the follow up discussions before the job ever starts. I did not want the initial order for to be too overwhelming but simply serve as a starting point for clients who might have special requests. I hope to offer grip frame decking in the near future. I have ordered a jog for holding the grip frames and that job is one of the things on the Dustin class schedule. I know on some of the grip frames I bought for shop work I used my granite slab with wet/dry sand paper to level out some of the high spots on a few of the frames.

Just a follow up to the order form. I just about have a pricing page worked out to send to my daughter for setting up and I am working on setting up a separate section in my woodworking website for the grip making information. As soon as I get these things moving I will update you guys. I will post a few pictures of a couple of sets I should be wrapping up sometime next week as soon as they are done. Thanks for the support, encouragement and patience.

As I have started filling out order forms I have found a couple items I need to tweak pertaining to grip frame types. My original order only listed stainless steel or blued guns. I am changing that line to say Gun/Grip Frame and adding blued aluminum as well as brass. This is for those customers that only want to send their grip frame not the entire gun.
Thank you to the folks who proof read the order form and pricing page, I will be contacted those who expressed an interest in getting more information on a set of custom grips sometime next week.
I think it will be an exciting adventure.

No sir, I do not have a website set up yet. I need to have the younger generation in the family see if they can alter my woodworking website to include a section for RB Custom Grips.
