I’ve been working with leather off and on the past 15 or so years but have never made one lined. In the past, I’ve just stacked leather for heavier weight gun belts and that’s worked well for me but I’ve typically just used 10-12oz leather on my holster. Currently, I’m thinking I’ll just use 5-6oz leather for each side but am curious if that affects my pattern size.

Not really. But I’d encourage you to use a thicker outer layer and thinner inner layer. Reason being is when you bond and stitch it, and then fold the holster over to form around the gun, the thinner inner layer will respond better than if it was thicker. It won’t bind up and wrinkle as bad. Hope that makes sense.
So if I’m shooting for 12 oz total, I’ll use 8 oz outer, and 4 oz inner. Works for me anyway.
Good luck!
