Perhaps I am being a bit too literal here, but "Tapered Cylinder?"
Does the outside diameter of the cylinder taper to a smaller diameter from rear to front? Or is it the odd shaped flutes cut into the cylinder?
Regardless, I would be tempted to purchase this over the 4.25" SS SP-101 .327 that I previously owned.

It tapers from back to front. I haven’t measured it but it looks to start near the middle and it looks almost like a rounded taper.

Looks like a roll pin securing the rear sight. Have they always had that?
