I shot my 30 carbine today. It is fun.! Had to move the rear sight a long way to the left ad push it forward to bring the POI down But one I had it dialed in at 25 yards I was drilling my pop can consistently out to 50 yards. I think somebody did some work on the extractor. It piled the brass up pretty close together. In 50 rounds ZI had to clear 3 spent cases that got caught in front of the bolt verticly. But that is a very easy clear. Just turn the rifle to the right pull the bolt a little and let go and it is fine. I think it did what it was supposed to do our soldiers had a decent weapon...tj

Other than a Chinese SKS rifle with blade bayonet the only mil-surp I have is an M-1 Carbine and that only because it's was what Dad carried through 16 months of Combat in Korea. Except his was an M-2 until he burned it up. Then he got another. They are fun but as with most, after it's sighted in and after 20 or so rounds what more is there to really learn?
The ONLY reason I keep the SKS is because when I bought it everything about them and their ammo was literally, cheaper than dirt. I have a slug of ammo for it. At least it was a lot cheaper than the dirt on my then farm.

Shooting gongs pretty consistently at 300 yards is what I like to do with mine, especially when non-belivers see it in person for the first time.

Well: When your on an old WWII air field which still has its rifle range, and its before 223s show up, the Air Force has M2 and 38. If only a couple of GI,s are interested in extra shooting that free ammo to burn. It sort of mans lots of carbine shooting 600 rounds at a time, supply won't take back any ammo. The only other way to get rid of some of it was to swap with the local Guard unit for 06 match. The best of both worlds. The carbine rounds shooting I did for years was out of a none prefix Blackhawk. Have a nice day Don K.
