When I got to my niece's families home outside of Richmond Va Thursday, Her hubby had left out a new Cabelas catalog for my viewing. A prominent 2 full page spread ad for True Velocity composite cased ammo, glaringly white cases, seen. They only had in store 5.56 and 308. A google showed 5 choices, a further google showed a few more. Info was like pulling teeth. The usual type claims. Then found an article on it when new, in 2021 ! Had never heard of before. Cannot see where it might or might not be reloadable. Guess not ? Expensive, yes. Not plinking/play ammo for sure. Looks to have been initially chasing a Gov't contract, hence the 5.56mm and 308. Saw a reference to 6.8mm and hopes for new SAW type to use that, etc.. So is Cabelas selling off a failed effort, or have I just been under a rock the last few years ? I grabbed a box of the 5.56mm for a friend to try. I'd have grabbed a box of 6.5CM if they of had it. Opinions ? A stagnated idea ? Still awaiting that Gov't contract ? Payed pro shooters winning anything, anywhere ?

Thur eve in Va., googling found me references to 6.8mm, 338 of some flavor, 6.5PRC and 6.5CM. Their website only showing what Cabelas has, 5.56mm and 308.

An old idea that has come back around as new, and as before failed to illicit the profits and excitement that it promised or solve the problem that it was supposed,to be in front of.

Thank You BBD.. Recall caseless efforts years back. A MIL try, mentioned loadouts of ammo 1/3 less. Had great nephew meet in the hills fun last spring and he never mentioned and he'd know. I don't recall specific pricing as lots , other things went into the basket. Do recall thinking pricing similar to highest priced 6.5CM.

No, that term not seen. Nor recalled from the years back, caseless efforts.

I saw some at our local BassPro shop a couple of weeks ago. I didn’t bother to check the price. It was on one of their end caps with big signs

The price at the local Cabelas seems to run just over $3 a round...
I don't see any advantage to it, and I can buy better match ammo at half the price...

They didn't by chance call them 'Trounds' did they? Trounds, I believe were triangular shaped instead of cylindrical if memory serves me. Trapr

That's correct and IIRC they were only for the proprietary revolver.
And I was being facetious.

I remember poly cased ammo back in the late '80s. Used quite a bit of 8x57. It was nice for fire and forget range ammo or general ranch blasting. I have never tried any of the ammo that has a plastic case body with a brass or other metal head and rim.
