Wish Miha would run the light version of that bullet for the 500L again.

A recovered Dick Thompson and Glen Swaggert hard lead HP. Loaded in 480 brass with a charge of 12.0 or 13.0 grains of HS-6.... Damage from the bullet on small boar... What alloy did you cast those from? Looks like great performance

What alloy did you cast those from? Looks like great performance Dick cast these 70% wheelweight and 30% pure lead if I remember right. Thats a good mix for the 1100 fps range. Performance has been extremely consistent.

Thanks for all the info ive been working and havent really had a chance to check back till now. Randomnator messaged me saying he has some gas checked 385's and i think imma give them a shot. I see everyone mentioning hs6 i tried two places a bit ago and they had none and hopefully tomorrow i got one spot left to see if they have any but in case they dont i have 3 lbs of unique left which i use for my 32's and the 45colt, i seen someone mentioned 10grs for a 325gr bullet so any advice on a easy shooting load with unique and the 385's? Imma do a search but figured id ask since who knows if my search pulls anything useful up. I appreciate all the info and pics

I just picked up a 480 SRH and a JRH custom cutdown SRH in 480. I bought some 280 Raptors from Cutting Edge Bullets and 385 gr. Hard cast from Montana bullets. Both companies were in stock and received them a week after I ordered them. I placed my CEB order 2 weeks ago and the Montana Bullets this past Monday.

Tank Hoover's data should still be around here on the forum. I've had little luck using the search function here. Can someone bring up link to this thread for OP ? Are Unique and Longshot charge weights for every bullet he tested I believe.

Moderators, would it be outta line to ask for Hoover's 480 data to be a "sticky" in the Single-Action or Handloading forum ?

Thanks ! I have it printed out from when it was all shiny and new. But that info stays relevant to each new 480 owner. I do not know how to post links or pics.

Hodgdon has HS-6 in stock; it's not cheap, by any means, but... HS-6 at Hodgdon
